Hiding God's Word in Your Heart

I had the great honor of speaking at a women's retreat this past weekend
 and it was such a sweet and precious time.
As an added bonus one of my college roommates is the women's ministry director
for the church so it was a fun time getting to visit and catch up with her.
Her church is full of some sweet, precious, and FUN ladies who
love the Lord and each other and we had such a great weekend!

The theme for the weekend was Anchored and one of the topics
I spoke on was being Anchored to God's word.

I truly believe that God's word anchors us to Him and is what
directs us to fulfill our purpose in life.
It is God himself that gives His word power,
and it is in and through His word that we encounter Him.
Reading and meditating on God's word builds our relationship with Him stronger.

Several years ago after my brain surgery, I had a few weeks where reading
or listing to anything was very difficult for me.
Not being able to read my Bible truly changed me and
 made me want to read and memorize as much scripture as I possibly could-
in case that were ever to happen again.

In America we have such amazing access to God's word-
(I personally have 15 bibles in my house and access on my computer, phone, iPad, etc.)
but that is not always the case and who knows when that access could be taken away.

Verse Gifts

I keep thinking that at some point life will slow down enough so that I
can start regularly blogging but somehow, that never seems to happen.
I feel like I spend much of my time running around like a
chicken with my head cut off-
just treading water and doing the next thing!
Busy is good though and I'm thankful for so many great things to do
and so many amazing people in my life!

I've made lots of verse printables lately as requests for friends or to give
as gifts that I thought I would share in case you need a quick, easy gift idea!
I love giving the gift of God's words.
It's such a great, personal gift- and if you print it out at Walgreens
and find a cute, inexpensive frame- it's a budget friendly gift too!
{FYI: Target, Hobby Lobby, and IKEA are my favorite places to find frames!}

Hiding God's Word in Your Heart

Preach the word; be prepared
in season and out of season;
 correct, rebuke and encourage—
with great patience and careful instruction.

Scripture Rings

My sweet friend Susan asked me to make some scripture rings
for a retreat she and two other ladies are hosting this weekend.

 The retreat is a very special retreat-
only for those mothers who have lost children
 and I was honored to do something to help.

 Although a tad time consuming,
these are super easy to make and a great way to
share scriptures with someone.

Here's how to make them:

1. Print out the scriptures
 {see printables below or make your own using a business card template}
and cut them out.

2. Cut out scrapbook paper into rectangles a
 tiny bit larger than your scripture cards.
I used a different kind of paper for each verse.
{I used a paper cutter and it was much faster!}

3. Glue the scripture cards on top of the scrapbook rectangles.

4. Take the string off of the tags
{I used these tags}
and glue the scrapbook rectangle in the center of the tag.

5. Take a book ring and put thru the hole in a set of tags.

6. Grab a few pieces of ribbon and tie to the ring
and you are done.

These are awesome to put on your desk,
in your purse or to give as a gift!

You can download the verses HERE

Hiding God's Word in Your Heart- Week 11

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Hiding God's Word in Your Heart- Week 7

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

~Philippians 1: 9-11~

Hiding God's Word in Your Heart- Week 1

So I am continuing this year with my verse of the week
 and hoping you will join me in hiding God's word in your heart!
It may look a little different this year
 {each week's verse will have a totally unique look to it}
but will be posted each Wednesday.

Each week I'll post the verse on here but will also have them all stored on a separate page.

 If you click on the words Hiding God's Word in Your Heart at the top of this page you'll go to a separate page where you can see all of the verses for this year.
I thought it would be a great review for those of us memorizing the weekly verses to have them all in the same place.

I also wanted to share with you a fabulous FREE app
 I found to help memorize scripture!
It's called Bible Memory Verses and the icon looks like this
What I love about this app is that it has lots of verses in it for you to study,
but also allows you to add your own verses.

So the verse this week, Psalm 4:4 was not included in the app
but I simply typed it in and clicked saved.
Once the verse is saved, I can record myself saying the verse
and then hear it spoken by clicking on the audio button.

I can also choose the Blanks button which has me try to fill in the word
 to help me with my memorization.
How cool is that?
