God is Listening

I stumbled across this verse in church Sunday morning looking for another verse.
My Bible has NIV on one side of the page and The Message on the other side.
{I love love love it!
Here's the link if you are interested.}

I had read these verses before but not in The Message
and I absolutely loved this translation.

I don't know about you but with so many broken hearts
in this broken world we live in,
this is a such a great comfort to me!

Your Beauty

Each spring our church hosts a Daddy & Daughter Dance.
It's a magical night where little (and big) girls get dressed up
and go out with their sweet daddies.
This year I was lucky to be able to help with decorations.
One of the things I did was make a printable of the verses
used for the evening, 1 Peter 3: 3-4.

I did it in hot pink to match the decor but have had a
few mamas ask me to change the background so they can print it and post it in
their girls rooms- and I was happy to do so!

You can print your own copies HERE
And if you leave your email address and a name,
along with what color background you'd like,
I'll even personalize it for you!

Give Grace Lavishly

Y'all life is hard.
Sometimes things happen in this sinful fallen world that
we simply can't understand or even wrap our heads around.
There is heartbreak and brokenness all around.
And sometimes I feel like we don't give each other
{and ourselves}
 enough grace.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 in The Message says.....

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.

Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

I think most of us are doing the best that we can.
So today, how about we look for the best?
Assume that people have good intentions
and are doing the best that they can.
What if we give grace and give it lavishly?

I'm in.  You?

God's Plans

It seems like this season of my life is ridiculously crazy busy.
No matter how I try to let things go or say no to things,
it just seems constantly overloaded and completely overwhelming.
I almost laughed in the face of my surgeon at MDA last week when he
told me that I needed to slow down and allow myself to heal
and that doing so would help the horrid headaches I'm having.
If only, dear doctor, if only I could.

I spoke at the women's conference at my church last Saturday
and shared this printable below in the form of a bookmark.
The quote and verse below are two things that I've said to
myself pretty much at least once a day every day for the last year.

It's so easy to get caught up in the million things going on in a day
that seem so important and pressing
and become overwhelmed.
Yet when I remind myself that although the day I'm in may
be stinky, it is just a single day and
God's plans are so so so much better
than I can ever imagine.
In case you need a reminder you can print your own copy HERE.

I'm also going to give away a few of the bookmarks!

If you'd like to win a set of 10 bookmarks to share with friends
who might need this reminder,
comment below with your favorite quote or verse that comforts you
when life seems CRAZY and OVERWHELMING!

I'll pick three winners on Sunday night!

Be Still and KNOW

I don't know about you but so many days I
feel like I run around like a chicken with my head cut off.
It's go go go go go from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed.

I rarely, if ever, stop and take the time to be still.
To sit at the feet of Jesus and just listen to Him.

Our world seems to get busier and crazier
and everything needs to be done immediately.
I was at MD Anderson earlier this week for my
6 month testing and doctor visits.
As I sat waiting for my MRI with nothing but a blanket to keep me company
{everything else was locked up in a tiny locker with my clothes}
I thought of how peaceful I felt when I just stopped
and had no other distractions.
It was just me and Jesus.
I poured out my heart to Him and it was glorious.

The prints below are ones I used at the Haven of Hope retreat a few weeks ago.

My favorite is this one
{we had shirts made of it for the retreat}

and I often feel that perhaps I need to have it tattooed on my arm as a reminder.

My surgeon told me yesterday that part
of the reason for the headaches is because I need to slow down to allow my body to heal.
I think more importantly I need to slow down and rest-
so that my heart and soul can listen to sweet Jesus.

If you too need a reminder you can print out all of the above pics HERE.
