The weird, the cute, and the funny

The Weird

As Dory, her girls and I shopped in Dory's favorite store (the one that starts with W and ends with ALMART) last Thursday, we walked past a display that caught my eye. It wasn't something I had ever seen before so I stopped to take a look. The three of them laughed at me as I whipped out my phone to take a quick picture.

I don't know about my fellow Texans, but this is not something I had ever seen before.

Pickled bologna.

And they say we are a bit odd here in Texas.

And as if regular bologna wasn't yucky enough.

The Cute
Then while staying in a hotel in Louisville I opened the bathroom door to find the cutest little tiny sink in with the potty. It was so stinkin' tiny and so stinkin' cute. My hand could barely fit in the sink.

Dory said it was so cute and dinky that it should be called a DINK. Isn't it precious?

The Funny
After our trip to Louisville Dory and I were driving home to her house when we passed by several concrete stores with very large statues out in front. Even though it was freezing cold outside, we stopped to take some fun pictures with a few of them. Every time I look at them, they make me smile! And they make me miss Dory even more than normal (which is already A LOT)!

  1. You left out the part about how long we discussed the plural form of rhinoceros.... and yet, I'm sitting on a hippo. How did that even come UP?

    I am sitting on a hippo, aren't I? ;o)

  2. LOL I wondered the same thing when looking at these pictures- NONE of which included a rhino. And the only thing I can think of (remember?) is that I incorrectly said we were sitting on rhinos in the pictures- because originally we were going to but they were too tall. And then I think D corrected me when he saw the pics saying......don't you know what a rhino looks like? But it's all kinda fuzzy- so you might want to check with him, k?

  3. Ohhhh yes! That is ringing a faint bell of memory! lol

Where's the pic of the big chicken? And the wigwams? I guess I'll have to post those!

  4. The dino, big chicken, and wigwam pics are too much funny for one day- when added to pickled bologna, the dink, and hippo and gator pics. I can only handle so much laughter in one day! :)

  5. You two crakc me up. I had never heard of pickled bologna either and I am not sure I would EVER try it. Blecht!

  6. Garrett is sitting on my lap as I read blogs this morning - as soon as the pickled bologna popped up on the screen, he said "Mmmm, yummy!"
    Little weirdo. :)
Love the pictures of you and the statues!

  7. Dory you are sitting on me, get off! Would you please! You may be tiny but you still are putting some weight on these ole bones! :-)

  8. What funny memories. Pickled Bologna- I don't think I really like Plain Bologna :)

  9. OK...that's just nasty. Wonder if they make Spam on a Stick? You know, like a Pink Thing at Six Flags!? I mean really...who says, "Let's roll up some of that bologna in the icebox and pickle it. Bet we could sell some if we stick it in a jar." hee hee

  10. Hmmm. I am detecting some Texas-style *slamming* going on here with the pickled bologna. ;o)

What's wrong with being a bit odd anyway? You don't think I got THIS WAY on accident, do you??

And, I'm suddenly quite sure what I should send you for Christmas. Or maybe your Thanksgiving feast.
