Rocks

I'm in Austin this week at a technology conference having a fabulous and wonderful time!

We went to dinner last night at a very cool Mexican restaurant.
As I took a trip to the ladies room and went to wash my hands,
this is what I saw in the sink.

Rocks.

In the bathroom sink.

Why in the world were there rocks in the sink?

Seriously.

WHY?

  1. Someone decided to wash her rock collection and forgot them. She is probably worried.

  2. Maybe to hide the ugly drain. That's the ONLY thing I would think could be the reason.

  3. Maybe it's because the sound of water on rocks is supposed to be soothing?

Whatever the reason, it's just odd.

  4. Well,I usually find rocks in my sinks because little girls are trying to clean them (does that count for cleaning their environment?). I wonder if it helps break up the soap and keep the drain clear? I have no idea...

  5. Yes, I've seen it before. There are some restaurants and resorts that do this. As to the "why", I'm not sure. One thing I read said that in feng shui one believes that your fortune will go down the drain if you don't block it. No idea if that is why they use them, but sort of doubt it.

Way I see it, rocks in my sink would just be one more item I would have to clean every week in the bathroom! ha

  6. I like that you took a picture. Seeing you do that would have been equally as funny. But it's something I would have done, too :)

  11. Has to be a soothing thing, but with some of the things that I have seen on this vacation, who knows?

  14. I like it! Very stylish and fun. Not in my home with 4 kids under 8, but in a restaurant or fancy hotel- yes!

  20. HMMM I give up! I think the idea of soothing or just a decorative detail is probably the case; but I agree with all the germs that get washed down the drain- EEEWWW!
