Peanut Butter Fudgy Bars

This is another easy school treat I made this week. These are another bar with a great combination of peanut butter and chocolate that only use a few simple ingredients.

1 butter recipe cake mix
1 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup water
1 egg
1 can chocolate fudge frosting
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 chopped peanuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9 x 13 inch pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, combine cake mix, 1 cup peanut butter, water and egg on low speed. Mix 2 minutes on medium speed. Mixture will be sticky. Wet your hands and use them to spread dough into prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until puffed and light golden brown. Cool completely. In small bowl, blend frosting with 1/2 peanut butter and spread over cooled bars. Top with chopped peanuts.

  1. You do know that I've been suffering from an overactive sweet tooth lately, right? This yummy stuff is just feeding right into it! :o)

I have a silly question though - what is a butter recipe cake mix? Is that the flavor of the cake (like german chocolate or a yellow) or is it one that calls for butter instead of oil? I know I should know this but - umm... I guess I don't.

  2. Butter is a flavor of cake mix- just like chocolate or white. :)

  3. I am trying to keep my sweet tooth in check and you are not helping me! These sound so good! Chocolate and peanut butter, what else goes so well together? :-)

  4. You have school on Labor Day??? Give me the principal's phone number! I'll remedy that! :)

  5. I love chocolate and peanut butter, so anything with those two ingredients is a winner in my book. I will definitely try this recipe.

  6. I made these for my #1's school....smelled delish! Hubby kept asking if we shouldn't test them first....

    I'll make them again!
