  11. Happy Birthday, Shannon!

Blessings to you today, tomorrow, for eternity. I can't wait until Heaven, when we all get to meet face to face. Only there, will you see the blessings your scripture lists are to us all, who use them. I am so grateful for them, they have helped me re-connect in ways I could not have imagined. Thank you! I'm in the process of making some scripture cards myself at the moment. There are 23 different precious stones or gems in the scripture...I am getting a promise/verse that begins with the first letter of each one, and making a set of cards to go with them. I am giving them to a women's group that is having a mini retreat on April 7-8. You have inspired me to continue in this venue. :)

To the winner: God bless your use of the prayer cards. I know scripture and prayer cards have been a blessing in my life, I hope they are in yours as well.

  13. I celebrate my birthday with a family dinner and angel food cake every year. My nose gets smothered with butter by my brother every year. The tradition is to wish the birthday person "good luck". Today I call it blessings! Who needs luck when you have Christ?!!

  18. My first grandson was born 9 months ago on my 63rd birthday. I never dreamed I would share a birthday with a grandchild, but do you know what moves me most? I don't know how much longer I will "use" my day, but for decades to come this day will still be special in our family because it's now Everett's day! If I win the prayer cards they will be for him. Your posts are such a sweet blessing to this grandma!

  24. Happy Birthday Shannon! May your day be filled with all your favorite things! I was the third child born in my family. My mother already had had two boys and really wanted a girl. When my mom found out she was pregnant with me back in 1961, she told her father that she was bound and determined to have a little girl on his birthday (Oct 17th). That was one of her daily prayers. October 17th came and with the aid of a little castor oil, I was born. Every year my grandfather and I celebrated our birthdays together. He has since passed, but every year I remember this story and all the great birthdays we were able to share together. It makes me smile and warms my heart!

My favorite thing about my birthday are the flowers that my dad sends to me.

  29. Happy Birthday Shannon
What I like most about my birthday is that it falls during Autumn. This season gives me a feeling of coming home. There are sounds and scents and feelings that occur during Autumn that bring me so much joy! The sound of leaves crackling underfoot, wearing big cozy sweaters, big orange pumpkins and many other things that give me a sense of coming in and coming home. I will celebrate my 64th fall birthday this year and pray that God sees fit to give me many more!

I share a birthday with my Daddy, and we are kindred spirits. I have celebrated the majority of my almost 52 birthdays with him, and I love that! My husband of 5 years always takes me on a birthday trip, so I am treated like the birthday queen!

  43. Birthday blessings, sweet Shannon. I hope that the year ahead is merciful and magical to you! My favorite thing about birthdays is celebrating with my parents, who gave me birth and worked hard to raise us up right. A special dinner out, a family gathering in, my favorite dessert, all of the above, but what matters most is that we're all together celebrating life as it should be.

  54. Happy Birthday and thank you for sharing the Sweet Blessings scripture writing calendars. I read too fast and this slows me down enough to think about and meditate on what I am reading and writing.
My Birthday is May 26th and because of Memorial Day coming that part of May every now and then my birthday is a national holiday. Makes it really special. My husband always does something special for me on that day. Still romantic after almost 48 years of marriage. I love him to the moon. and back!

  66. Happy Birthday to You. I'm turning 49 tomorrow and I am surrounded by good company with so many lovely individuals sharing the same birthday week; well we are ALL lovely as His daughters!

  67. Happy Birthday Shannon! I hope you had a very blessed day with lots of family and friends. My most memorable birthday was when I turned 40. My husband somehow got me out of the house with my daughter you said we needed to go to Walmart! I was game, I love going to Walmart! While I was gone, my dearest friends and family were filling my livingroom. When I arrived home and got the big SURPRISE, I couldn't do anything but cry. All the people I held dear to my heart were all here with me celebrating another year of precious life with me. Birthdays are a perfect way to let the people you love know you care about them. It's that one day of the year that is special and sending a card, making a phone call or spending time with them is what makes it even more special.

  68. Happy birthday, Shannon. I appreciate your site. The scripture writing plans have truly helped my daily devotions. What I love about birthdays is the gathering of friends and of course, cake!
I hope you enjoy your day and it is filled with love, laughter and contentment.

  69. My favorite thing is that God allowed me one more year to be. To be loved and to give love. In recent years we've suffered great loss in our family. Though we know where our loved ones are, there is an empty spot in our hearts. God grants us His peace in those times of heartache.

  70. I was trying to come up with some really neat and profound but honestly, my favorite thing about my birthday is that being so close to Christmas my parents went the extra mile to make sure we celebrated my birthday separately and that I wasn't lost in the celebration of Christmas. I know Christ is a great opportunity to get lost in. But growing up I really felt my parent's love that they went the extra miles for me.

  71. My birthday comes close to a holiday. So, things tend to take on that holiday's "theme"! My husband lets us celebrate my birthday for the entire month and that makes it special! So, in turn I do the same for his birthday!

  72. I receive flowers from a family I have babysat for for over 17 years. They send them each year to me at work. I am a teacher. I love the reaction of my students when the flowers come, but I love the beauty in a basket, bowl, or vase that I receive and their love that sent them.

  73. As I get older, I honestly would like to just forget about my birthday. However, my sweet mother always makes a big deal of it and never lets me forget how special my birthday is, especially to her.
