The Best of 2009- December 4

I'm doing The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge by Gwen Bell.

December 4
What book- fiction or nonfiction- touched you?
Where were you when you read it?
Have you bought and given away multiple copies?

My favorite book of the year had to be

It's an amazing and thought provoking story-
one that I've thought about many, many, many times since reading.

It's a book I want others to read so that I can discuss it with them.
I loved it so much that I had my book club read it in
March which lead to some interesting discussions.
I've also shared it with several friends who have in turn shared it with others.

In fact, if you would like to read it,
let me know and I'll send you my copy to read!

  8. I just read We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver (a woman). It's written from the mother's point of view. Her son committed a school shooting and the book details her ambivalence about becoming pregnant & how she never really bonded with him. She wonders if she didn't bond with him b/c he was born evil or if he turned that way b/c she didn't bond with him. Very good, though disturbing on several levels.

  9. Ok, Stacy, when you're done with it - send it my way. By the time it arrives next summer sometime (hehe) I might have worked my way through my stack of *books waiting to be read* and be ready for it. :o)
