Monday Morning Question of the Day

The only magazine I have a subscription to is
and I absolutely LOVE it.

It has great articles, wonderful ideas for making life simpler,
great ideas for reusing and re purposing things,
awesome checklists, and some yummy recipes.

One of my favorite things in each issue is the very last page.
On the last page is a feature called "Reality Check".
It's always funny and I love waiting until I've read the whole issue before reading it.

October's Reality Check was one of my favorite of all times.
It was a list of new fees effective this month.
At the top of the page it said:
Attention, friends, family members, coworkers, and complete strangers.
Starting October 1, 2009, I will be charging the following fees
for inconsiderate and/or obnoxious behavior.
Please pay in full when the fee is incurred.

Below that were all sorts of things that people do that drive us all crazy.

Things like:
Talking on a cell phone in an elevator- $7.00
Not ordering dessert, then eating half of mine- $10.50
Finishing the toilet paper roll and not replacing it- $16.00

I thought that their ideas were great and immediately thought of a few fines
that I would like add to the list.

Things like:
Having and using a glass to drink out of, leaving it sitting somewhere,
and going to get another one repeatedly- $10.50
(Tony and Madison would be BROKE and I would be RICH!)

Opening a cabinet door and leaving it open- $6.75

Asking someone whose job it is to do something,
to do that something and having them act all put out about it- $8.25

Driving out the entrance or in the exit of a well marked driveway- $5.50

Replying to ALL on an email to a large group- $7.50

What about you?
What fines would you add if you could?

  1. How about:

Driving the wrong way down an aisle at the supermarket.

Asking your Mother the same question for the 10th time in the same day.

Leaving clothes lying around the house.

Leaving a drop of tea/lemonade/koolaid in the pitcher so you don't have to make more.

Boy, if I could impose fines for those few things, would I be rich!

btw - I could probably go on and on and

  2. Not holding the door.
    Continuously turning up the TV.
Talking LOUDLY in a public place (Like everyone wantst to hear every little detail)

  3. children waking up before 7am - $12.50

  4. Husbands dropping their socks wherever they want to: $5.00 a sock.

Men who scratch places on their body that they should not do in mixed company: $50.00!

  5. People who drive slow in the passing lane - $20.00

8 year olds who pee on the toilet seat - $5.00

Eating lunch OUT when I took the time to pack you a lunch - $10.00 (I hate packing lunches!) :)

  6. Oh my goodness.... what a funny thought!

I have both work and personal thoughts here... at work:

Patients that want to have a 5 minute cell convo while I'm trying to work on them. $10.

Patients that waited for 10 minutes in the lobby but then have to go to the bathroom the minute I call their name. $3.50

Patients that are habitually late for their appointments. $12.50

    At home:

Finding clean folded clothes back in the dirty clothes hamper. $5.00

Dirty dishes placed in the sink when the dishwasher is EMPTY. $2.50 per dish

    Unflushed toilets. (ewwwwwwwwww) $7.50

  7. These are all GREAT! Wouldn't it be awesome if we could really do that?

I laughed last night because I was telling Madison to bring all her water glasses out of her room. Tony had obviously read my blog and he said "Yeah, did you see how much Mom is going to start charging for that?" :)

  8. I love this!
I relate to leaving cabinet doors open......only it's drawers here. Why does my 10 yr. old son leave every drawer in his dresser open...every stinkin' day after her gets dressed???!!! $5.00 per drawer!!
And, I'm with Dori on the unflushed toilet!! That would be the son too......$10.00!!! His mama potty trained him better than that!!
