14 manicotti shells
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup finely chopped onion
3/4 t dried oregano
1/2 t salt
1/8 t pepper
1 3/4 cup spaghetti sauce
Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Cool in single layer on foil or waxed paper. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large skillet, brown meat and drain. Stir together 1 cup mozzarella cheese, eggs, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, oregano, salt and pepper. Fill each cooled pasta tube with about 1/4 cup meat filling. Spread thin layer of sauce on bottom of 9 x 13 inch baking dish sprayed with Pam. Place filled pasta in prepared dish; cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese and additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Cover with foil. Bake 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
I love manicotti and so does my husband.
ReplyDeleteI will have to try this recipe.
This looks a lot like the one I make. My husband prefers the meat one, my daughters and I love the cheese only variety. Thanks for reminding me about Manicotti. Maybe I'll make it for dinner.
ReplyDeleteYum, I love anything that can easily be connoted as a comfort food!
ReplyDeleteI'll be trying this too. I need an alternative to spaghetti and lasagne! :)
ReplyDeleteI loooove Italian food almost as much as I loooove Mexican food!
Oh, my! These are my favorites & I haven't made them in years :-S
