Lost Generation?

This is an amazing video.....truly powerful. It is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20 year old. The contest was hosted by AARP and was titled "U @ 50".

This video won second place but because this one is so amazing I truly can't imagine what 1st place must have looked like. Apparently, when they showed this video, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliantly creative.

Take a minute and watch it. Do not fast forward as there is a point in the video where it may take your breath away ….. skipping through it will only make you miss the simple genius of it all.

A Note to Myself

Dear Shannon,

From now on do NOT store your prescription nasal spray in the same cabinet with the Air Wick plug-in refills. Do not do this because they look amazingly similar in the early morning hours and you might accidentally pick up the Air Wick refill and try to squirt it up your nose.

And that would be nasty.

Very nasty.

Love,
Shannon

Monday Morning Question of the Day

Sat. evening Tony took Madison and I out to dinner and afterwards I asked to stop by Hobby Lobby for a few minutes. Anyone who knows me well knows I LOVE LOVE LOVE signs (and have quite a few) and I love the signs they have at Hobby Lobby. So on our way out of the store we went through the sign section and had such fun showing each other fun signs.
(In fact I found one sign that I simply HAVE to have. It magnetic and it says Count Your Blessings on it and has the cutest little fleur-de-lis magnets on it so you can add pictures to it- SO cute! I should have taken a picture of it to show you how cute it is! )

(Madison's face in this picture CRACKS me up! She's so silly and so much fun- I love that girl to pieces!

Thanks Maddie for being a good sport and letting me post this here! :)

(How cute is my hubby? Love his sign- truer words have never been said! :)

So the question for today is..........
If you had to wear a sign today- what would your sign say?

Sweet Swap

My sweet friend Becca recently organized a Valentine's Day Swap and of course I was excited to participate! I love any excuse to give gifts to a friend!

I was so lucky this time because my package arrived from Hawaii where Becca and her husband had been vacationing for two weeks! I knew a package from Hawaii would be full of fun surprises and couldn't wait to see what was inside!

In my box were 3 Hawaii t-shirts! Three.....one for me, one for Maddie, and one for Tony. How sweet is that?

Inside was also the sweetest girlfriend card- so cute!

Of course there was also some yummy goodies straight from the island like Macadamia Nut Crunch (YUMMY!),

Chocolate covered macadamia nuts,

and pineapple snow covered macadamia nut candies. These are fabulous!!!!!

Thank you so much Becca for such a wonderful package and for organizing another great swap. Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Sweeties

I love every holiday and any reason to make a treat for friends and family.

As Madison has gotten older though it's become more of a challenge to come up with new, unique fun treats for her to give to her friends at school.

Sometime last year while shopping I stumbled across some clear alphabet stickers. They were on clearance for a great price and so I bought several packages and tucked them away in my craft closet thinking that someday soon I'd find a use for them. (I do this all the time which is why I have a closet full of random stuff!)

As I started thinking of what to do for Madison's Valentine's Day treats this year- I remembered those cute little stickers. A quick trip to the store for some cute Valentine's Day paper (thank you Target Dollar Spot), some Valentine ribbon (Target Dollar Spot again), and some Hershey's nugget candy bars and we were ready to work.

I simply measured and cut the paper to fit around the little bars (to cover up the writing) and we taped them on with a small piece of tape on the back. Madison spelled out each of her friends names using the alphabet letters (getting creative when we ran out of Y's and E's) by placing one letter on each candy bar.

We then rubber cemented some additional scrapbook paper onto the back of some blank index cards cut in half lengthwise. We rubber cemented each little candy bar to the white side of the card and slid each one into a clear plastic bag (from Hobby Lobby in the bag section) and tied it with a little Valentine's ribbon.

Cute, personalized little sweet treats that were fun and easy to make!

Rocks

I'm in Austin this week at a technology conference having a fabulous and wonderful time!

We went to dinner last night at a very cool Mexican restaurant.
As I took a trip to the ladies room and went to wash my hands,
this is what I saw in the sink.

Rocks.

In the bathroom sink.

Why in the world were there rocks in the sink?

Seriously.

WHY?

Happy Birthday Sweet Friend

Today is my precious friend Dory's birthday.
She's truly a treasure.

God gave a gift to the world when you were born—
a person who loves,
who cares, who sees a person’s need and fills it,
who encourages and lifts people up,
who spends energy on others rather than herself,
someone who touches each life she enters,
and makes a difference in the world,
because ripples of kindness flow outward
as each person you have touched, touches others.
Your birthday deserves to be a national holiday,
because you are a special treasure for all that you’ve done.
May the love you have shown to others return to you, multiplied.
I wish you the happiest of birthdays, and many, many more,
so that others have time to appreciate and love you
as much as I do.

Happy Birthday Sweet Friend!
I love you and hope you have a wonderful day!
