Be Alert

Early this year I started working on eating better and exercising.
I vow to do this most years- but this year I actually kept up with it
and have lost 50 pounds! Woo hoo!

Part of that included walking early in the morning.
Since I'm now deaf in one ear and wear headphones while walking
I've learned that I have to really be super alert and pay close attention to my surroundings.
This is because I can't tell what direction sounds are coming from
(call me from behind and you'll see- I turn to the left always!)
and unless I'm looking will not know of any oncoming car or walker/runner.

I've almost walked out in front of a car or run into a runner coming in the
opposite direction countless times because of this.
As I walked early this morning in the dark and yet again
almost ran smack dab into another walker
(because I was looking down and didn't see or hear him)
I thought about what a an example of life my needing to be alert was.

Because the enemy is ALL around us-
(The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy- John 10:10
just waiting for us to slack off and let our guard down so he can swoop in
and pull us away from the Lord and His works- we MUST be super aware and diligent.
And that even though I know I need to be uber alert-
I get distracted so often that my eyes stray from looking ahead-
where I should be looking to be safe.

Memorizing this verse today as it's such a great reminder!
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls
around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
-1 Peter 5:8

September Scripture Writing Plan 2016

NOTE: If you are having trouble downloading the Sept. pages at the links below (which are shared exactly the same way as all the others so I have NO clue why?) I'm so sorry. I have checked each one at least ten times and they are shared correctly. So I've placed a second copy in the folder HERE

Happy, happy, happy almost September!

Once again- thank you from the bottom of my heart
to those that have emailed me this month to
tell me how much you like these little scripture writing plans!

I try to respond to each email but please know if I don't that I
seriously LOVE hearing stories of how families,
and Sunday School groups, and churches, and friends,
and even prison groups
are working through the plans together.
GOD is so cool how He uses our simple works for HIS good and glory!
I loved hearing stories of how the topic for this month was so needed for so many.

Here is a portion of one of my favorite emails lately about the scripture plans:
Thank you for investing time to provide a resource that pushes me and many others to have a deeper relationship with the Lord. Each day I read the passage, copy the passage, and then I may write out a prayer in response, do a further study of certain key words or passages that stand out to me, or write it using different hand lettering fonts. A few weeks ago my husband told me he would like for our family to start having more consistent time together in the Word, so I shared with him my notebook and what I have been doing. He liked it so much he started copying the passages and bought our sons notebooks to begin the plan as well. We are using the plan as a family, each copying the passage daily, and sitting down together on Thursday evenings to talk about the passages that impacted us the most. We have a 14 year old son and a 12 year old son and having this time together in the Word is an awesome time for our family. Thank you!
My husband and I also teach the College and Career class at our church. Last summer we did a series with them on fear and anxiety, sowhen we saw that the copying plan for this month was on the same topic we decided to challenge that group to participate with us. We provided notebooks and the plan to them on Sunday, May 1st and started that day in class. There are several of them faithfully following along and it has provided fruitful conversation in our class time as well as challenged them to be spending time daily in the Word.

This month I felt it would be good to do a general plan- so no specific topic for September!

Quick NOTE: When doing the monthly plans (especially the topical ones)
I may occasionally repeat verses- since they are appropriate for more than one topic.
Please know that I work to keep repeats to a minimum
(I actually keep a big old spreadsheet to keep from having too many repeats)
but occasionally it will happen!

You can find a copy to print out for yourself in the folder HERE.
They are in the folder alphabetically- so scroll to the bottom for Sept!

For those that have asked, there is also a blank form
to write your verses on that can be found HERE

Thanks to a sweet reader you can also find the Spanish version HERE.

Another reader asked for a version that was more manly (for her husband)
so you can also find that version HERE

And many of you asked for a shortened version and
another sweet reader picked those verses so we have one this month!

GOOD News 8-25-16

I love happy stories.
You know, those happy, inspiring, tear producing stories that
remind you there IS good in the world!
I LOVE those so very much!
I love them so much that I seek them out
daily to remind me of the good in people.

I share lots of those types of stories on Facebook
but here are a few of my favorites from the past week!

This little boy? Inspiring!

Kid President is my favorite!
Love this pep talk to teachers and students!

This teacher wears the same outfit every day as a way to fight bullying.
How cool is that?

Homeless at 16, this young man turned his life around and is now giving back!
